Summary

Ocean County College’s TV Studio broadcasts both campus-wide and to the residents of Ocean County, serving as a vital hub for educational and entertainment programming that supports both the college’s academics and community outreach. The studio was long overdue for a lighting upgrade, with some fixtures dating back to the 1980s. We began by replacing the outdated lighting with advanced DeSisti LED Fresnel lights and ETC Source Four LED spot lights, which provide versatile and precise lighting. We then installed Prolights LED cyclorama lights, ensuring even and consistent lighting for backdrops—an essential element in achieving professional-grade broadcasts.

The new lighting system is controlled through an ETC Ion XE digital console, which is operated via a Dell multitouch control monitor for smooth and precise management of all fixtures. We installed SoftLED units for softer lighting and upgraded the DMX infrastructure for enhanced reliability. These changes have brought the studio up to modern standards, allowing it to better serve the college’s needs in producing high-quality broadcasts and engaging with the community.
