Summary

Orange Prep Academy’s auditorium, rich with history and timeless elegance, has long been a centerpiece for performances and events. To preserve this cherished space while bringing it into the modern era, we undertook a thorough upgrade that seamlessly blends the old with the new.

The project began with the installation of a state-of-the-art DMX Power Control Package, featuring an ETC Ion Xe 20 Digital Lighting Console with touchscreen monitors. This advanced system, paired with DMX/RDM response gateways, was designed to handle the most demanding performances while still respecting the auditorium’s classic architecture. We also installed top-tier LED color-changing stage lights and precision follow spotlights, enhancing the beauty and impact of every show.

To ensure versatility, we integrated a high-performance LED house lighting system with smooth, gradual dimming. This system allows the space to transition effortlessly from educational settings to full-scale productions. As part of this upgrade, we carefully retrofitted the existing chandeliers, sconces, and under-balcony lighting with dimmable LEDs, preserving the historical charm of the auditorium while improving energy efficiency and functionality.

The audio system was also given a significant boost, with premium JBL speaker arrays and Crown amplifiers delivering crystal-clear sound that fills the space beautifully. We included a microphone package, featuring wireless and hanging choir mics, all supported by advanced RF distribution and antenna systems. To keep everything organized and maintain the auditorium’s clean, elegant look, we added a custom-built equipment rack.

For visual experiences, a new projection system was installed, featuring a powerful 15K lumen LED laser projector and a large diagonal screen. This setup ensures visuals that can be enjoyed from any seat in the house and integrates seamlessly with the upgraded audio system.

Finally, to provide optimal control, we designed and installed a custom, lockable roll topp desk on the balcony, complete with a new wooden platform. This desk not only offers the perfect vantage point for AV and lighting control but also fits harmoniously with the auditorium’s historical aesthetic.
