Choosing the Best Speakers for a Gym

When it comes to purchasing speakers for a gymnasium that has relatively high activity, safety should always be your priority. Whether it's used for sporting events or general physical activity requiring sport equipment, the speakers must be able to withstand any accidental impacts. Durability is a must-have feature.

With safety top of mind, we recommend speakers with a flush-mounted grill; either a speaker where the grill is securely screwed into the base or a speaker that's a one-piece structure where the grill is apart of the it's body. On the right, you see the ElectroVoice's grill has a number of screws to ensure it will be not fall off.

It's also important to choose speakers that are optimized for the size and shape of the gymnasium to ensure that the sound quality is the best it can be. To determine the distribution of sound, audio engineers conduct EASE reports. EASE is a program that provides a visual representation of how sound will be dispersed within a given space.

Here's an example of an EASE report for an ElectroVoice speaker for gymnasium dimensions 100’L x 40’W x 25’H. Each ring represents 1 db. You want the color range to be less extensive, just as below. The more colors, the less evenly distributed the sound. A good report averages around 7-10 dbs.

Last but not least; budget. It's important to find the perfect balance between price, durability, and performance. By choosing the best speakers that fit within the budget, it ensures that the investment is long-lasting and provides maximum value for money.
